HMS Tartar was a Tribal class destroyer that served with the Dover Patrol during the First World War. On 17th June, 1917 she struck a mine, laid by the German submarine, UC-65 near Boulogne, The ship was badly damaged but did not sink. However forty five members of her crew lost their lives in the incident, one of them being Frank White.
